Fordite 5.6mm Artist Pencil – A Piece of Motoring History, Reimagined

This stunning artist pencil is handcrafted from genuine Fordite, also known as Detroit Agate or Motor City Agate — a rare and colourful byproduct of vintage automobile manufacturing. Each piece of Fordite is formed from layer upon layer of baked enamel overspray, originally built up on skids and racks in automotive paint booths. Once cut and polished, these vibrant strata reveal dazzling swirls of colour and history — no two pieces are ever alike.

Fitted with sleek chrome fittings, the pencil uses a 5.6mm artist-grade lead, ideal for sketching, shading, or expressive writing. It also features a built-in sharpener cleverly hidden inside the removable plunger: simply remove, sharpen over the lead, twist to return the point, then replace the plunger — and you’re ready to go.
