Erard Grand Piano Fountain Pen (Circa 1805)

Steeped in musical history, this handcrafted fountain pen has been created from the lid of a magnificent Erard Grand Piano dating from around 1805. One of the most influential piano makers of the nineteenth century, Erard instruments were celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship, innovation and beautiful tone, making surviving examples highly prized today.

Crafted from rich dark mahogany sheathed in a rosewood veneer, the timber carries with it over two centuries of history. The natural contrast between the warm mahogany and beautifully figured rosewood creates a depth and character that only time can produce.

To further enhance the layered construction of the original piano lid, the pen is accented with fine copper bands, subtly defining each section while introducing an elegant warmth that perfectly complements the wood. These details are echoed by the rose gold fittings, creating a beautifully balanced and sophisticated design.

The pen is fitted with a premium bi-colour German-made medium point Bock nib, providing a smooth, effortless writing experience. It is supplied with an ink converter for bottled inks and is also compatible with standard international ink cartridges, giving complete flexibility for everyday use.
